Pension savings tax charges 11 - Taxable short service refund of contributions (overseas pension schemes only)
If you have not received any lump sum payments from overseas pension schemes during 6 April 2020 to 5 April 2021, you do not need to complete this box.
If you left pensionable service in an overseas pension scheme and received a refund of UK tax-relieved contributions that you made to that scheme, you're liable to a tax charge on that refund.
The amount of tax due on a refund is:
- 20% on the first £20,000
- 50% on any amount over £20,000
You can find more information about short service refunds and liability to tax on them in the Pension Tax Manual.
Enter the amount of your refund of UK tax-relieved contributions in this field. You can convert the refund into sterling using the 'spot rate' for the date of payment.
