1028 - Are you exempt from paying Class 4 National Insurance contributions
If you are exempt from paying Class 4 National Insurance contributions (NICs) select 'Yes', otherwise, select 'No'.
You are exempt from paying Class 4 NICs if on 6 April 2019 you were either:
- at or over State Pension age at the beginning of the year of assessment, including if you reached State Pension age on 6 April 2019
- under 16
- during the tax year 6 April 2019 to 5 April 2020 you were not resident in the UK for tax purposes, if you are not sure please contact HMRC or your tax adviser
