1305 - User ID

This is the User ID that was displayed to you on screen when you first signed up for an Online Government Account (also known as a Government Gateway account).

User IDs are made up of 12 randomly-generated numbers, for example, 1234 5678 9123.

Please note:
If you registered after 20 August 2001 but before 20 September 2008 your User ID will be made up of 6 or 12 randomly generated characters; a combination of letters and numbers.

If you registered before 20 August 2001 your User ID will contain 4 letters followed by 4, for example, ABCD1234.

To exchange your current User ID for a new format User ID, please follow the 'Request User ID in the new format' link on the Government Gateway website 'Manage Logins' page.

If you have lost your User ID you can request a replacement by following the 'Lost User ID' link on the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) 'Welcome to Online Services' page.
