Corporation Tax Reference
A unique reference allocated by the Registrar of Companies, to a company that
is incorporated or registered under the UK Companies Acts.
This can also be called the Company Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) and will
have been issued by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). It is made up of ten numbers,
for example 1234567890, and can be found on the 'Notice to deliver a Company
Tax Return' (form CT603). It may also be found on other documents HMRC have
issued.
Employer PAYE Reference
The first part of the reference is three digits and this is the number of the
tax office that deals with your PAYE, for example 123. The second part of the
reference comes after the forward slash and is your tax office employer
reference, for example /A246.
This can be found on your form P60 End Of Year Certificate, which your
employer or pension provider will supply at the end of each tax year showing
your earnings for that year. It may also be found on your payment slip and is
also known as your tax reference.
National Insurance Number (NINO)
Your NINO is a nine-digit reference made up of letters and numbers in the
following format: QQ123456A. You can find your NINO on your National Insurance
card, letters from Social Security, documents sent to you from HM Revenue &
Customs or on your pay slips.
Stamps Taxes Online Reference Number (STORN) / Unique Transaction Reference
Number (UTRN)
Enter the reference number from the payslip on page 7 of the form SDLT1 Land
Transaction Return.
Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)
A UTR is allocated to a company, individual or partnership, by HM Revenue &
Customs when a Self Assessment or Corporation Tax record is set up.
It is made up of ten numbers for example, 1234567890 and you will find it on
your Tax Return, a Notice to complete a Tax Return or on your Statement of
Account. It may also be on other documents.
