Auxiliary Panel, a system sub-assembly for an underwater Telephone. It enables specific transducers to be switched on/off when transmitting and receiving with the underwater telephone.
The panel is made from an aluminium front plate with switches, relays and indicator lamps attached. The front plate mounts onto a rack with the rest of the underwater telephone transmitting/receiving equipment and connects electrically via terminal blocks.
The transducers convert electrical signals into pressure waves and vice versa in a similar manner to a microphone or speaker but specifically designed for the underwater environment. The panel has two simple switches that turn the circuits for the transducers on/off with lamps that indicate the associated status. They operate at 24V.
