Solid State Power Amplifier
A High Power Amplifier (HPA) is a critical component in the transmission chain of many RF (radio frequency) and microwave systems, commonly used in applications such as cellular networks, satellite telecommunications and digital broadcasting.
The primary function of an HPA is to amplify low-power RF signals to high power levels suitable for transmission over large distance. The HPA sits at the front end of the transmission chain behind the Aerial or antenna for wireless transmission of various types of traffic such as voice, images or other data commonly associated with a wireless communication network. Interface connectors include: DC Power: RF Input and RF Output Electro-mechanical assembly. Electronic components and circuit boards are housed in a metal chassis or casing.
For shipment the units are packaged in purpose designed steel or timber cases with protective packaging material.
