The rotary encoder measures the angular position of a rotating shaft.
The Encoder is a critical part of a satellite telecommunications “system” which is used for communications over commercial frequency satellites. The “system” provides voice and data connectivity to radio frequency (RF) networks.
The Encoders provide precise feedback about the antenna's orientation in relation to the satellite and this is vital for maintaining optimal antenna positioning, ensuring effective and reliable communication with the satellite.
The Encoders are mounted on the antenna itself and they comprise a fixed part and a shaft which rotates with a rotation axis of the antenna as the antenna moves, the encoder generates electrical signals corresponding to its position.
Encoders maintain effective operation of the motion control ‘sub’ system for satellite antennas. The encoder is typically coupled with a motor that adjusts the antenna’s orientation. As the motor turns the antenna, the encoders digital interface sends the axis data to the Motion Axis Controller.
For shipment, the units are packaged individually in purpose designed cardboard carton.
