Description
A noise source generator. This broadband calibrated noise source injects a controlled reference signal for Earth Station Gain (ESG) calibration. The reference signal generated provides a flat spectrum noise signal to analyse and identify discrepancies in the gain. Earth Station Gain is the antenna's ability to amplify signals received from a satellite. ESG calibration provides accurate measurements at the input to the earth station Low Noise Amplifier and calibration minimises drift caused by environmental factors. This prevents potential performance issues such as reduced signal strength and signal distortion. The hardware required for ESG calibration comprises of two main components, the Noise Source, and the Noise Injection Calibration Hub and this application relates to the noise source only. Used for noise figure measurement in satellites communication networks.
